WHO AM I?
That is a loaded question.
At this point in time I do not have a mile long list of credentials; there is no PhD, MD, RD or any other “D” after my name. However, what I do have is a brain and the God-given ability to seek out knowledge as well as a spirit filled with passion for living God’s purpose and mission. Wellness In Season is the central place where I share with you our family’s beliefs about living healthy in mind, body and spirit; beliefs that are supported by my Christian faith, by science, by personal and professional experience. It is my heart felt passion to share this information with others so it hopefully does not take them as long as it took me (16+ years) to make informed decisions for what is most beneficial for themselves and their families based on their needs and goals.
I am so thankful to the Lord for giving me the desire to empower others to take control of their health and to discover what the Lord has given us through His creation. God is the architect of the human body, as well as of the soul (CCC 362-366). Therefore, He is the sole designer of and authority on human form and function. As stewards of these amazing gifts, we must each strive to care for both our body and our soul. “Therefore glorify God in your body.” (1 Cor. 6: 20b)
Let’s pray together in Jesus’ name that you reach out and receive the fullness of God’s blessings for your abundant health and wellness and make wiser choices for your life today and in the future!

As a practical wife and mother of 6 kids, I began improving my overall physical health and happiness, and consequently that of my family, first by eliminating preventable toxins in our household and personal care products after learning the ramifications they presented to our own health and the health of our environment. Then we were led to modify our nutritional habits from the standard American diet of processed foods to wholefoods nutrition. Finally we replaced our dependency on over-the-counter drugs and pharmaceuticals with natural whole plant-based medicines. We did this by implementing new habits into our day to day lives, one ingredient at a time, one medication at a time, one month at a time, one step at a time!
Since eliminating these toxic products from our own home, changing our nutritional habits to a wholefoods diet, and using whole natural plant-based medicines our family has experienced numerous surprising health benefits. Most notably we experienced relief from seasonal and pet allergies, acne and skin rashes, digestive discomforts, nose bleeds, everyday aches and pains, stress, anxiety and depressive moods. Using God’s natural resources has also freed us from being dependent on weight loss support groups, making poor choices when we go out to eat and costly medical bills!
My husband, Dave and I are the proud parents and educators of our six beautiful children. Our teaching methods are heavily influenced by a wonderful educator called Charlotte Mason, but over the years we have come to know, be inspired and adapt several other educational methods like child-centered rabbit trails (unit or thematic studies), some classical ideas from Laura Berquist, Montessori materials can be found sprinkled throughout the elementary years to reinforce skills, and last but certainly not least Waldorf inspired elements that add amazing beauty and creativity to all lessons.
As you will come to realize our choice to homeschool has grown over the past two decades into a lifestyle of learning that is intertwined with our daily living. This choice completes *our family* and in no way is judgmental against other methods of educating children. We welcome all readers and comments. Our prayer is that we might inspire others along their journeys!
We aim to create a loving and nurturing environment that will guide our children to their fullest potential as self-confident, creative and caring individuals who embrace learning, think for themselves and positively influence the world around them. We strive to seek “whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is lovely and whatever is gracious…” because all beauty and truth originate from God the Creator.
We strive daily with “… all our hearts, minds, souls and strength to know, love and serve the Lord our God” (Deut. 6:5), His one true Church (Matt. 16:18, Acts 15), in union with the Holy Spirit (Luke 11:13). This total devotion in combination with all our humanity forms who and what we are so please remember our opinions and thoughts are just that – our own and our intent is never to offend anyone.
I believe as a Christian LifeWork Consultant, all people are created in the likeness and image of God, and when that is understood and honored in conjunction with the graces bestowed upon us through Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit, each person has immeasurable potential.
I believe in order to thrive and growing in holiness in this demanding, noisy, unbalanced world and toxic culture we need to be intentional about nourishing our hearts with intimate and affirming relationships, healthy dynamic friendships, selfless acts of kindness and mercy towards our neighbor, and detachment from disordered desires or fears.
I believe we need to nourish our souls with periods of silence, solitude, prayer, simplicity, fasting, generous giving of alms, and frequent participation in the sacraments.
I believe our minds need to be fed with sacred scripture, writings from spiritual leaders, saints and good & noble books, we need to listen to praiseworthy music, and expand our minds with inspiring visuals, positive influences and a love of learning.
I believe we need to nourish our bodies with nutrient dense diets, regular exercise, quality sleep, chemical-free environments, proper stress management, and a daily dose of self-mastery while maintaining a balanced lifestyle.
I believe each person needs to learn how to lead and communicate through h.e.a.l.thy styles, cultivate a service-oriented mindset, and remain teachable through every season in life in order to actively build up their families, communities, churches, schools, and or workplaces, all the while striving to become the best version of themselves. If any of these areas are suffering, our Wellness capacity will be unbalanced and severely compromised.
